Heavy Hearts

We have had a devastating loss in the SGD family today. Our hearts are heavy and heads cannot even fathom how something so tragic could happen. As I write this, words escape me, but there are two things I know that can give comfort. The love of friends and family and the words from the Scripture. Y'all, life is precious. And fragile. And yet our lives are so amazingly fast paced, we forget this over and over again. Until something unfathomable happens.

So, here is your reminder to stop, take a breath and be thankful. Be thankful for those friends who see you through thick and thin. Let them know how much they mean to you. For your spouse who loves you, warts and all. For your children, who drive you crazy but who you love so much it hurts. Hug them just a bit tighter next time you see them. For your parents, who screwed up a few times but you still turned out pretty OK. Give them a call if you are lucky enough to still have them around. And when things DO get overwhelming and you just can't, remember that you are never alone.

You've likely heard the phrase, "Let go and let God". Seems too good to be true, right?  I can just sit back and not worry and everything will turn out alright? Well, yeah. It IS true. But let me tell you, it's not as easy as it sounds. But by doing so, you lighten your burdens and relieve some pain and maybe sleep a little better at night. Give it a shot. Start small and have faith. 

"Come to me, all you who are weary, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 25-30
