You thought we forgot, didn't you? Last year, we got a jump start on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and shared our favorites even before the sale was live to the general public. OK, so yes, we are a little behind the 8 ball this year, but technically, the sale starts tomorrow, and there are still plenty of amazing things to make your COVID Summer a little brighter and happier. You'll notice it IS a COVID friendly selection; no high heels, no binding clothes, nothing too "fancy". We know most of us are still staying somewhat close to home but I mean, those sneakers you've been wearing ARE wearing out and how cute would your summer charcuterie dinner be on this adorable pineapple cutting board?

One nice thing that came out of the Covid Quarantine was a surge of Virtual Clients. I suppose all those hours of staring at the same rooms in your home and coming to the realization that you really hate that sofa inspired people to do something about it. In addition, we've ramped back up on current projects, are planning some photo shoots, and have some exciting new projects to share with you in the coming weeks. And as much as we love Wayfair, West Elm and the like, we also think it is important to support smaller home furnishings brands. So, the down time has also given us the chance to find new shopping resources and we are excited to share some of those with you in this post. THE INSIDE Custom upholstery can be crazy expensive. With their range of over 120 fabrics including designer collaborations with Scalamandre and Peter Som, The Inside makes custom upholstery affordable. Their zero-inventory supply chain and water based digital printing make their process eco-friendly as well. AND delivery times are in a matter of weeks, not months. So, now that chair you love can be a one-of-a-kind treasure that you can say you designed. JAYSON HOME The first thing we fell in love with about Jayson Home is their amazing assortment of vintage furniture and accessories. Up until now, our "go-to" for vintage home decor has been Chairish, so it's nice that there's another game in town to have as a resource. What started as a retail store in Chicago over 20 years ago has grown to a significant online business yet with the customer service standard you expect from a local retailer. If there was ever a reason to road trip to Chicago, this would be one of them. AMARA With brands like Jonathan Adler, Seletti, Orla Kiely, and Missoni Home, Amara showcases the best of luxury home brands. We also saw pieces carried by our friends at Scout Design in Dallas (go buy from them though), so when you are looking for a special gift or an amazing show-stopper, this is the place to go. Their private label brand, A by Amara offers curated collections twice a year in addition to the Essentials Collection with elegant basics for every home. Based in the UK, but shipping to the US is free with orders over $175.

These are crazy times, my friends. I know all of us that are small business owners are feeling the pain of social distancing maybe more than others but we can still support one another! Our reading audience is from all over the world but the biggest concentration is here in the DFW metroplex. There are some amazing local businesses you can still support online, and local restaurants that are offering curbside and carry out options. Then we have other friends and followers that are out of town and doing the daily grind, living their dream and trying to make it through this nightmare. To all of you we say, "Hang in there, chin up, this is a detour, not a roadblock". This is just a small sample of our friends and followers who we are supporting with some encouragement and promotion. If you have a small business and would like us to help promote you, please comment on this post. Or, if there is a restaurant in your area that you want to help, do the same. Neora Skin Care LadyBox We will continue to update this post as we get more from all of you on your favorite local and small businesses. Thanks to everyone who sent us your info. AND, if you are sitting around your home thinking it could use a little refresh, we are still doing E-design consultations. Contact us for our current specials and more information! XO Shauna Hands down, the number one question we get when posting a reveal photo is "where is that rug from?" Hands. Down. Now, because of Shauna's love of rugs you might think that we tend to splurge on rugs we buy for clients. And in some cases, we do. These clients are looking for one-of-a-kind pieces and willing to invest in the purchase and care of high end rugs. BUT, 90% of the time, clients want rugs that look good, are easy to care for, can hide a spill of red wine, and can be upgraded or switch out after a few years without the guilt of replacing something that cost a fortune. Obviously, the cost of a rug is going to vary by size, but we've found that there are a heck of a lot of great rugs out there for very reasonable prices. If you are looking for a quick and easy refresh of a room, spending $500 on new rugs and pillows can seriously work wonders. Check out our favorites and get that room refreshed for spring! When Ida Mae Home approached us about partnering with them we took one look at their quirky, fun kids bedding and felt like anyone who put lemurs on a kids quilt was someone who was speaking our language. And while our initial plan of a kids room makeover didn't pan out, we still found some adorable bedding and pillows to give a guest room a nice refresh. Nellie obviously approves and who are we to argue. In addition to bedding, pillows and throws, Ida Mae Home has the cutest jewelry, bags, gifts, kitchen accessories, candles....you see where I'm going. You just have to see it all for yourself. AND you can join Shauna there this Saturday, November 16 from 11-12:30 for a Sip & Shop Event. See more of our favorite goodies and get all your holiday shopping done in one place. For more info, check out their Facebook page.
With the cool weather finally blowing in to the Metroplex, we are having a moment with fall bedding. Duvets and quilts in rich colors and yummy fabrics like flannel and velvet. Plush and faux fur blankets and throws that make it even harder to get up from the couch or your bed and turn off the most recent Netflix binge. Recently we shared with you Shauna's guest room update with bedding from Serena & Lily and another recent guest room project on Instagram stories featured a gorgeous quilt from Anthropologie. So, if you are in the market for some cozy layers, rich colors and a surprise or two, grab a mug of cocoa and check out our favorite fall bedding picks. Velvet Velvet is definitely not going anywhere, and we are so OK with that. From pillows to quilts and duvet covers, velvet is the affordable luxury that everyone needs. These are all available in multiple colors, so you have no excuse, really. 1. Belgian Flax Linen and Cotton Velvet Duvet Cover--West Elm 2. Crinkle Velvet Duvet Cover and Shams--West Elm 3. Velvet Tufted Quilt and Shams--Pottery Barn 4. Layne Velvet Quilt--Anthropologie Prints Used to be that florals were reserved for spring. Not so much anymore. Both in fashion and in home decor, fall florals in rich colors make a bold statement in your bedding. Add in some texture like embroidery or fringe and our boho selves are in heaven. In an interesting twist, as we usually stick to white sheets all year round, these floral sheets have us giddy with the prospect of an afternoon nap. 1. Helena Embroidered Duvet Cover and Shams--Pottery Barn 2. Meguro Duvet Cover and Shams--Anthropologie 3. Myla Floral Sheet Set--Urban Outfitters Blankets & Throws
We debate between the importance of warmth over softness when it comes to blankets and throws. While wool might be the warmest, there's just something about that faux fur that we can't give up. With blankets, layer on top of sheets but under quilt or duvet for maximum insulated warmth. Throws are vital too, so have a basket of them in the family room as well as on the end of the bed for naps and that Netflix binge we mentioned earlier. 1. Wendover Wool Striped Blanket--CB2 2. Sophie Faux Fur Blanket--Anthropologie 3. Overlook Throw--CB2 4. Bright Stripe Throw--Anthropologie Shop more of our favorite bedding here. If you've yet to venture to turn the page on the calendar, let me be the first to tell you that Thanksgiving is less than 6 weeks away. And if you are the lucky one who has "volunteered" to host the big dinner this year, congratulations! Maybe the bonus part of that position is that you can justify a new dining table that can accommodate the growing fam. We are big fans of the contemporary style of Arhaus; modern but classic enough that your dining room won't look dated in 10 years. Right now during their Dining Event, you can get up to 50% off of dining chairs with the purchase of a dining table. We are especially in love with the Recycled Metal Table with Lyon Base. I mean, this copper table top is AH-MAZE-ING! The recycled copper top that is hand hammered over 3500 times and held over an open flame to get just the right texture and patina. So good! Add the classic Gage Dining Chair or Jagger Dining Arm Chair (or both! We love to mix and match!) and your dining room just got legit.
Need a swanky bar cabinet to complete the look? Go with the Raja with its fish scale bone inlay and storage for 10 wine bottles and 12 glasses.
They have some great tabletop collections too in case your dinnerware, glasses, flatware, etc needs some sprucing up, and it’s all 20% off. Check out our favorites below, and don’t forget candleholders, vases, greenery and the like to make your Thanksgiving table complete. Sale ends on 10/31.

Friends and Family Events are like top of our list of favorite things. And when it is a Friends & Family Event for one of our favorite retailers, that's even more exciting. Serena & Lily is known for their breezy, easy California coastal style and we can always find room for that in our designs. We've picked some of our favorite pieces for your home and for gifts. It's not too early to shop for Christmas, you just may as well buy one for yourself too because by December, you won't want to give it away. The Friends and Family Event runs through October 14.
