We are lucky here in Texas to have a reasonable amount of outdoor living time throughout the year. For many of our clients, outdoor spaces have become just as important as indoor spaces for entertaining, dining and hanging out to watch whatever "big game" is on at any time. Outdoor furniture options of the past were limited to metal, faux wicker or wood. None of which really reflected sophisticated design. Faux wicker has come a long way and is even more durable and less plastic-y than it was 5 years ago. But with the development of upholstered outdoor furniture, the ability to create 3 season rooms that are integrated with the design of the rest of the home has become even more possible.
We saw some amazing outdoor collections at Universal Furniture at our visit to High Point Furniture Market last month. A blend of upholstered and faux wicker with performance fabrics in everything from coastal stripes to modern geometrics and everything in between.
We are big fans of the oversized poufs which make for easy portable seating that can go anywhere anyone needs to plop down for a spell. And clearly, Shauna is ready for her post-Thanksgiving dinner nap on this comfy slipcovered sofa.
For a more whimsical approach to outdoor, we found cute accent seating at Dorel Home that is perfect for smaller spaces, patios and balconies. The Novogratz brand, based in New York, had one of our favorite outdoor pieces, the Roberta Outdoor Loveseat. Reminds me of the glider that sat in front of my grandparents' house but without the screeching that came with every rock.
The shape of the Sally Hanging Swing was made for curling up on a rainy afternoon with a good book. With cushions all the way around and a nice deep seat, there's no doubt you'll be coming back to this comfy spot over and over again.
The Heidi Bistro Set is a clear winner in the small space game. Poolside, porch or even the tiniest balcony, she is ready for afternoon cocktails, morning coffee or anything else you have to throw at her. Plus at a retail price less than $250 she'll fit right in with anyone's budget.
It's never too early to start thinking about YOUR outdoor space! Let us know how we can help you create the ultimate oasis in your own backyard.

We're back with part two of our High Point Market highlights. When we say there is lighting for every taste, we mean it. Case in point, the showrooms of Hubbardton Forge and Vanderpump Alain. (yes, THAT Vanderpump)
One of the lines we loved so much from Hubbardton Forge featured forged iron and leather accents. Evoking the aesthetic of Ralph Lauren, these designs are right at home on the ranch or at the lake. Based in Vermont, every item is made to order using local suppliers with options on metal finish, leather color and shade color. There's just something to be said for made in the USA.
The first thing that struck our eye in this showroom was the amazing piece of art in the front window. There's a lot to see here, and to be quite honest, we don't even know if this is for sale. But, it definitely caught our attention.
In stark contrast to Hubbardton Forge, Vanderpump Alain is all about glitz, glam and well, extra. A partnership between Lisa Vanderpump and designer Nick Alain, they are new showroom at HPMKT featuring lighting, furniture and accessories. One of our favorites, the Iris Pendant is a beautiful marriage of modern and glam. Just the right piece for a grand foyer.
The Coupette Sconce gives us 1920s Paris vibes and is begging to be installed in a chic powder bath.
Let's leave lighting for now and head over to Nathan Anthony. And. This. Sofa.
The Embrace sofa. Designed to literally give you a giant hug, the sofa is customizable in over 100 fabrics. But, seriously. Who doesn't love this gorgeous chartreuse velvet? Made in the USA.
Embracing the HUGE curved funiture trend, the Alais 2.0 bed is just the cozy place to hunker down for a long winter's nap. Wood finish and fabrics are both customizable.
We love the high design elements at Nathan Anthony. It's a specific look for sure, but if you're looking for a modern piece to spice up your space, there's loads to choose from.
We've got more great showrooms to show you! Stay tuned.
On our last post, we shared with you the news about Shauna's gig at High Point Market. It was a whirlwind 3 days, and we have tons of new products, trends and "how cool is that?" things to share with you. To start, let me give you an idea of how enormous this Market is. There are over 11.5 million SF of showroom space, and over 2000 vendors in 180 buildings. 75,000 people attend the market each year from over 100 countries. Needless to say, you'll never see it all so that's when making a list and checking it twice comes in super handy.
One of the more "boutique" areas of the Market is known as the Suites At Market Square. These are smaller, showrooms but they pack a punch when it comes to modern design.
Natural, minimalist furniture that is both casual and elegant. We loved the bentwood frame of the Caro Chair and luxe shearling upholstery of Charlotte. Plus, their collection of sofas and sectionals are slipcovered with high quality fabrics and can easily be removed to clean.
Gorgeous alabaster bowls, sinks and these mirrors with integrated lighting were the highlights of the natural stone collection at Verona Prive. If you are in the market for a natural fluorite pedestal or dining table, this is the place.
Modern and somewhat minimalist, but with a keen attention to detail, Olivya Stone is all about showing you something you've never seen before. The Villena Arm Chair with wrapped rattan arms and the Komo Arm Chair with its menswear inspired houndstooth fabric definitely stood out in the showroom. With multiple fabric and wood finish customization options available, you can even further personalize their unique designs.
